Program:
4.50... Wake Up! Oh, my, sooo early. :( But I did not cry that much, but of course I was tired. :)
The Lodge are "all inclusive" for us, but that did not count for loundry and our guides did not have it. I figured out that Herman and Carlos don´t belong to the group. They are staff. Seems weird but....
Villa Lapas We have great rooms with a lawn outside in the garden and a pool on the way to the restaurant. There are actually two areas. At the entrence there are a lobby and a bar and a Cantina where we ate lunch. The napkins were done as birds. (See shot 110204) For dinner we had to cross a bridge over a small stream. There were a bar as well and some shopping.
Today we spent 3 sessions at the Carara National Park. Early morning, after breakfast, afternoon and to the evening. Here is what the website says about the area: "Birdwatchers are interested in the Carara National Park area because it presents two life zones and a variety of birds, including one of the largest remaining wild populations of Scarlet Macaw in Costa Rica."

This was the day of the cikadas. This one sat on the door when we went out in the morning. Then we heard them almost the whole day. In some places in the forest they were so loud it almost hurt the ears.
A hot and humid day begun. It was quite tiresome. Sweet running down your face and back. It´s a rainforest but rather flat so they had pretty good path to stroll at. Except for the late session. That was in the forest. No wheelchair path that time. Yet, there were not so much birds. But there were one species that people was celebrating. The puff bird. Well, whoever that was. I´ve forgotten. But it was celebrated in the bar that evening. A Margerita for me. But it was salt not suger on the rim of the glas. HMMM. Did not taste as I thought it would.
A colorful acquaintance was the Scarlet Macaw, we had seen it before but not this close.
Well, I was a bit ahead of people when they decided to turn around. But then I had a good view of an Anhinga (ormhalsfågel) and a fun lizzard. This was the funniest thing I saw today. Especially when it run off on its hindlegs. :)
Dinner was not that interesting. What we call "gående bord" means that you go to a table and pick whatever you like. I thought the chicken was the best. Took wine to that one. Talked with Herman about my blogs, maybe he can help me to ID the birds I can´t?
After dinner it was frogs and birdspecies time. So I finish off with a green, redeyed frog. :)

Morning to afternoon was the upper trail.
Late afternoon the lower circled trail.
